1. Pooja Hegde
For years, Bollywood and Tollywood have been sharing stories, technicians and actors. However, over the last two decades, it is the actresses who have been finding ground in Tollywood first and then taking a plunge into the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood. Sometimes, the actors come down South after a few bad shots to hold their ground and then go back to dive into higher depths. Soon, South-Bombay beauty Kiara Advani is touted to come down to the south for her third Tollywood film, alongside Varun Tej.
The film is said to be a sports drama which will see Varun as a professional boxer. Ahead of any confirmation on this film, let’s take a look at a few B’town beauties who started their journey from the Telugu Film Industry.
Pooja Hegde is a name that instantly rings a bell in our heart and head. Today, she is well-known as a ‘Superstar actress’ who has worked with everyone from Mahesh Babu to Bellamkonda Sreenivas. Having debuted with Oka Laila Kosam, with Naga Chaitanya, Pooja ventured out to Bollywood just after two films.
2. Kriti Sanon
This might come as a surprise. But opposed to popular belief, Kriti Sanon did not make her acting debut with Tiger Shroff in Heropanti. Earlier in the same year, she shared the screen with Mahesh Babu in Nenokkadine. After her Tollywood and Bollywood debut, she returned to the TFI with Dohchay alongside Naga Chaitanya.

It was eight years before foraying into Bollywood that Kriti Kharbanda played a range of roles in Tollywood films. She started her career with Sumanth, in 2009, in the light-hearted entertainer Boni. Thereon, she went to be a part of big films like Ala Modalaindi, Chiru, Teen Maar, Tirupathi Express and more. Finally, in 2016, she landed in Bollywood with Raaz Reboot starring Emraan Hashmi.
4. Taapsee Pannu
Power-packed performer, Taapsee Pannu has carved a niche for herself, in Bollywood and the various South-Indian Film Industries. The last few of her film, across industries, have been genre-bending and critical acclaims. But her initial days passed in the sunny Hyderabad and it’s many film studios. From debuting with Manchu Manoj in Jummandi Nadam (2010) to having delivered a solo superhit, Gameover in 2019, this actress has crossed all heights in a decade.
5. Ileana D'cruz
Devadasu starring Ileana D’Cruz and Ram Pothineni continues to be a popular favourite amongst us all. Now, the obvious! Long before ‘filmy connections’ and ‘rumoured relationships’, ‘Kay Beauty’ Katrina had made her acting debut with Victory Venkatesh in the romantic-comedy Malleshwari.
7. Neha Sharma
