The latest ZEE5 Original film, Ala, talks about the journey of a young boy who bottles up his feelings. Doesn’t that sound relatable to you? What happens in the film is something you will have to watch. But here are a few things we can do to help ourselves get back up when our world seems to be crumbling down. A wise person once said, there are a million cells in your body constantly fighting for you to be healthy. Well, this is the time we can perfectly quote, ‘If not me, then who? If not now then when?’
Filling up pages after pages of a diary is an idea that has been romanticised for aeons now. But there is a reason behind it, which still makes perfect sense. You may be around a hundred people but your thoughts and emotions only want to be bottled up in you. Switch to journaling will help you come face-to-face with your deepest darkest emotions and your privacy will not be invaded.
Most people believe that the newer generations have ease of access but with it, they have more and more problems. Difficulties in coping with the growing competition and the constant threat to being your authentic self are just a few issues that we all deal with. We have too much on our plates and have no clue where to begin. Going to therapy is like finding answers to the questions you didn’t know were troubling you all along.
For most, self-care is an idea that closely attached to luxury. But that’s the myth we need to burst. Self-care is taking some time of the 24 hours to take care of yourself. It could be a costly spa session but it can also be treating yourself to a delicious cupcake. Until you do it a few times, you will not realise how good it feels to spend 10 extra minutes in the shower to clear dead skin by using some bath salts. Or the feeling of watching your skin glow after 15 minutes of face-mask therapy. Go ahead. You deserve it.
5. Indulging in newer practices
The best way to heal yourself is to get your hands into something you have never tried, something you have always wanted to try or something that you left a long time ago. Pick up your paint brushes once again or cut and sew your old clothes into something new. Take a shovel, dig up the empty space in your backyard and make way for newer plants to grow.
6. Keep your own company
When all else seem to be going wrong, stand by yourself. More often than not, the only company that we need is ourselves. Take a solo trip or sit by the beach alone. Take yourself on a coffee date or a fancy dinner. In fact, cook yourself an easy meal. With you giving undivided time and attention to yourself, life will be a little more colourful.
