The only natural harbour of the east coast of India, Vishakhapatnam, or Vizag as it is more commonly known, is a beautiful city. While some of us call it home, for a lot of us, it is a city that is not too far away. Vishakhapatnam is dotted with beautiful beaches, lighthouses and even a submarine museum. And guess who visited the pretty port city recently? It’s Happy Wedding actor Niharika Konidela who spent a great day at the beach there. “Nothing like a good beach day! 😍” she wrote on Instagram. Planning to visit Vishakhapatnam like her? We list out five places you need to check out.
A museum inside an actual submarine. Ain’t that cool? Well, that’s what this unique Submarine Museum is. It is housed inside the decommissioned Russian submarine INS Kurusura and it is an experience you should not miss out on.
2. Rushikonda Beach
If you love swimming in the sea, this is the beach where you should do that. The Rushikonda Beach is super clean and hosts a bunch of water sports activities such as water skiing, windsurfing, ATV rides, parasailing and more. It also has a lot of shacks where you can gorge into delicious seafood.
This is where the ancient temple of Shri Varaha Lakshmi, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is located. The rajagopuram or the main tower of the temple is five-tiered and the wedding hall has 96 pillars. Even if you are not religious, visit this temple in Simhachalam for its architecture and beauty.
4. Rama Krishna Beach
5. Dolphin’s Nose lighthouse
Lighthouses have this old-world charm that is difficult to ignore. They remind you of the bygone days when the seas were darker and more dangerous, and the world was nowhere near as connected as it is now. But then, lighthouses also offer breath-taking views. So climb atop the Dolphin’s Nose hill and the old lighthouse on top of it and soak in spectacular views of the Bay of Bengal.
